Dining & Eateries

We are fortunate to enjoy excellent dining close at hand. Visit "No 2 Oak Street" or "McNally House" in Bellingen (minutes away) and "Misty's" in Dorrigo (30mins) for high quality, à la carte dining or venture out to the coast to Sawtell (25 minutes) to visit award wining "The Blue Fig". See the list of brief reviews of nearby restaurants and eateries below.

BELLINGEN

No 2 Oak Street
This licensed or BYO restaurant is Bellingen's best à la carte dining. Sit inside in front of the fire during winter or outside on the verandah on balmy summer nights - either way you'll have a meal to remember.

Lodge 241 - Gallery Cafe
An old Masonic Lodge put to alternate use as a Sydney-styled cafe. After coffee at Monticello, you will locate Bellingen's best coffee here. The Lodge affords great views west up the Bellinger Valley and often exhibits quality local paintings and sculpture. The local Chess Club welcomes all comers on lazy Sunday afternoons, starting 1pm.

The Golden Coronet
If Asian food is your style, this "cheap and cheerful" restaurant is worth a try but get there early or book because you might have to queue.   The restaurant is found in the Bellingen Bowling and Sporting Club.

The Swiss Patisserie
If you are unconcerned by calories, enrich your day at "the Swiss Patiss" with a pastry and coffee. Sit outside on wrought iron furniture or spread the paper on wooden benches.

Boiling Billy Coffee House
Just up from "the Swiss Patiss" the Boiling Billy is a cafe with a real country feel offering old fashioned service with a changing menu of light meals.

The Old Butter Factory
If you're really hungry, this is the place for you. Every meal is a small mountain. Service is fast and efficient. The view is west over the golf course toward the mountains. The Butter Factory complex is home to numerous craft shops which you may wish to browse.

SAWTELL (25mins drive north)

Olive Oyl's
One door down from The Blue Fig, Olive Oly's offers excellent gourmet pizza and pasta dishes. BYO wine, choose a spot indoors, or roadside on those balmy summer nights. Perfect compliment to a movie at Sawtell's Cinema Internationale.

DORRIGO (30mins drive west)

Misty's
Don't miss an evening at "Misty's" on the Dorrigo plateau. "Misty" because the cool air of the plateau fogs the roads and fields during winter. Located in an old tailor's shop, Misty's serves game meat, trout from Ebor and beautiful Dorrigo potatoes. Not a vegetarian's restaurant.

URUNGA (12mins drive south east)

Anchors Wharf Cafe
Set on the side of the Kalang River in Urunga ("Where the river meets the sea"), Anchors Wharf Cafe is an award winning eatery offering family restaurant dining.

Rivers Restaurant
A short drive from Urunga, Bellingen or Coffs Harbour, Rivers Restaurant is the perfect destination for alfresco lunches, fine dining and fabulous functions.
